WMS WINTER CONCERT
24th November 2025 – Wakefield Cathedral (7pm)
Annual Wakefield Youth Orchestra Winter Concert in the beautiful setting of the Cathedral in the heart of Wakefield. In addition to showcasing some of Wakefield’s most talented young orchestral musicians the evening will include a contributions from several other groups including Wakefield Youth Choir and ManyVoices Community Adult Choir.

A variety of summer concerts across 3 Music Centres. These concerts showcase the talents of hundreds of young musicians of all abilities from nearly 40 groups, bands and ensembles across the district!

THE SOULBURYS
22nd May 2026 – WX Wakefield Exchange (7pm)
The Soulburys celebrate Motown and beyond with their lively performance!
‘The Soulburys’ are an adult group from Horbury Music Centre that celebrate the best of Motown, classic pop, and timeless hits from across the decades. Featuring male and female vocals, guitars, keys, and a dynamic horn section, their live show is packed with hits from across the decades, bringing energy to the stage and your feet. Free entry.
WMS MUSIC CENTRE SHOWCASE EVENT
13th June 2026 – WX Wakefield Exchange (Afternoon/Evening)
Join Wakefield Music Services for an afternoon and early evening showcase of Music Centre groups and ensembles from across the district. The event will have performances from Hemsworth Music Centre, Horbury Music Centre and Manygates Music Centre all set within the rather wonderful WX and it’s summer Helios exhibition. An ideal event to come and listen to our marvelous ensembles, explore the exibition and check out the great selection of food and drinks in the venue! Free entry.
THE BIG STRUM
16th June 2026 – Wakefield Cathedral (Performance at 1pm)
240 primary school children and 240 Ukuleles in one glorious venue! The event brings several schools together from across the district for a 2 hour workshop followed by a concert and musical extravaganza of Ukulele playing and singing!
The performance forms part of the Cathedrals weekly lunchtime recitals and begins at 1pm. Free entry.
THE BIG SING
30th June 2026 – Wakefield Cathedral (Performance at 1pm)
The Big Sing involves over 350 young people from various junior schools across the district! This massed singing event comprise of a workshop/rehearsal in the morning and a workshop performance from 1.00pm to 2pm. Young singers are given the exciting opportunity to sing as part of a massed choir in a truly impressive venue! Each school in addition prepares and performs their own song to perform on the day.
The performance forms part of the Cathedrals weekly lunchtime recitals and begins at 1pm. Free entry.

19th June 2026 – Wakefield Cathedral (7pm)
Annual Wakefield Youth Orchestra Summer Concert in the beautiful setting of the Cathedral in the heart of Wakefield. In addition to showcasing some of Wakefield’s most talented young orchestral musicians the evening will include a contributions from several other groups.
